Alfa Romeo Junior lands in showrooms from €34,995

The much anticipated Alfa Romeo Junior has landed at dealer showrooms nationwide, with prices for the Junior Elettrica starting from €34,995 (including SEAI Grant + VRT Relief).

The Junior is the first fully-electric model from Alfa Romeo and will also be available as a hybrid later this year.

The full EV Elettrica model comes in two power variants with 156 hp and a range of up to 410 km WLTP, as well as the sportier 280-HP Veloce, the epitome of Alfa Romeo’s sporting DNA. According to the brand, the 54kWh battery offers high energy density and a very good ratio of rated to usable energy. With its high power, torque, and specific calibration of the electric powertrain, Alfa Romeo claims the new compact sports car offers uncompromising driving pleasure with segment-leading dynamics. A 10 to 80 per cent charge is possible in less than half an hour when using a 100kW DC fast charger.

Alfa Romeo says the Junior Veloce 280hp boasts segment-leading agility and best-in-class road handling. This is made possible by two unique features of the Junior Veloce: the new 280hp/207kW electric motor and the latest Torsen “D” mechanical limited-slip differential. The new car also adopts exclusive technical solutions, including the most direct steering in the segment of 14.6:1, specially calibrated to enhance its exceptional road-holding qualities. Additionally, the suspension has been lowered by 25 mm, and the extra sporty anti-roll bars ensure quick, precise cornering. The braking system includes 380-mm discs at the front with 4-piston monobloc calipers, while the 20-inch performance tyres are specific for high-performing electric vehicles.

A hybrid option ‘Ibrida’ will be available later this year, which comes in a 136hp 48-V Hybrid VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) and will be available in a front wheel drive and a Q4 all-wheel drive variant with automated rear-wheel drive axle management, a first in the segment. The Junior Ibrida is said to offer a smooth driving experience in urban driving using electric mode more than 50 per cent of the time, with electric driving also possible on out-of-town roads under certain conditions. Irish pricing for this hybrid model will be announced in April.

Ciaran Cusack, communications and brand manager at Alfa Romeo Ireland, commented: “The Alfa Romeo Junior represents a bold new chapter for the brand, combining iconic Italian design with modern electrification. We are thrilled to introduce this model to the Irish market and believe it will capture the hearts of drivers who crave style, performance, and innovation.”
