Heaslip and McNamara announce Land Rover prize at Punchestown

Ireland and Leinster rugby star, Land Rover Brand Ambassador and Naas native Jamie Heaslip and leading amateur jockey Robbie McNamara were at Punchestown recently to announce details of the €100,000 Goffs Land Rover Bumper which takes place on Tuesday 29 April, the opening day of the Punchestown Racing Festival.

Now in its eighteenth year, the €100,000 race is exclusively for horses purchased at Goffs Land Rover Sale, the County Kildare auction house’s flagship sale of National Hunt horses.  An iconic Land Rover Defender will be presented to the person that sold the winner of the Land Rover Bumper at last year’s sale.

Commenting on the longstanding relationship between Goffs and Land Rover, Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby said “Goffs Land Rover Sale continues to go from strength to strength in the sales ring and on the racecourse. The link with the iconic Land Rover brand is entirely fitting as we both aim for excellence in the field and our partnership is one of the most enduring in the business”.

Gerard O’Farrell, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Ireland added, “We are very pleased to be continuing our longstanding partnership with Goffs and we look forward to presenting the winning vendor of the Goffs Land Rover Bumper with their new Land Rover Defender at Punchestown.  With its expert towing capabilities, the Defender will ably transport a horse box on any terrain.”

Goffs Land Rover Sale was the only store sale to sell 2014 Cheltenham Festival winners, with five successful graduates including Faugheen and Holywell – the latter progressing to Grade 1 glory over fences at Aintree.  In the point to point field meanwhile last year’s €215,000 Land Rover Sale topper won impressively first time out for Michael O’Leary’s Gigginstown House Stud.
