Toyota Prius Prime wins 2017 World Green Car

The Toyota Prius Prime was also declared the 2017 World Green Car at the New York International Auto Show.

This is the second consecutive World Green Car win for Toyota. The Mirai won last year’s World Green Car title.

The Toyota Prius Prime was chosen from an initial entry list of 12 new vehicles from all over the world, then a short list of three finalists which were: the Chevrolet Bolt, the Tesla Model X and the Toyota Prius Prime.

Previous World Green Car winners were: the Toyota Mirai (2016), BMWi8 (2015) BMW i3 (2014), Tesla Model S (2013), Mercedes-Benz S 250 CDI BlueEfficiency (2012), Chevrolet Volt (2011), Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion (2010), Honda FCX Clarity (2009), BMW 118d with Efficient Dynamics (2008), Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec (2007) and the Honda Civic Hybrid (2006).
