Volkswagen heralds new 132 plate

As the 131 Model Year draws to a close, Volkswagen Ireland is heralding the arrival of the new 132 Model Year and a new registration plate with a host of specification improvements to its range, the arrival of two new high-performance versions of the Golf and an incredible finance offer.180613volk

The new arrivals to the Volkswagen range are the high-performance versions of the Golf, the petrol-powered GTI and the diesel-powered GTD. The 220bhp GTI comes with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic and has a starting price of €33,820. The GTI is particularly noteworthy as it has dropped a number of tax bands and with emissions of just 139g/km with a manual gearbox sits in tax band B2 and has annual road tax of just €280.

The GTD, a diesel, boasts 184bhp and 380Nm of torque and thanks to emissions of just 109g/km with a manual gearbox sits in the third-lowest tax band, A3 with annual road tax of just €190. The GTD is available with a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed DSG transmissions and has a starting price of €35,740.

There are also a host of changes to the specification of some of Volkswagen’s most popular models. The up! gets 15” Waffle alloy  wheels on the Move up! The High up! gets, as standard, the Maps and More portable navigation and infotainment system, Sports Pack with Triangle Black 16” alloy wheels, the body has been lowered by 15mm and there are also tinted rear windows.

The ever-popular Polo model gets a leather multifunction steering wheel as standard on Trendline and BlueMotion versions, the Comfortline gains tinted rear windows. Cross Polo gets a leather multifunction steering wheel, tinted rear windows, Park Distance Control and cruise control.

The Beetle now gets Bluetooth as standard fitting in Design and Sport grades and also comes with the RCD 510 touch-screen audio system. The Sport model gets a rear spoiler and electrically folding mirrors.

The Jetta remains one of the class leaders when it comes to fuel economy, price and specification but there have been further changes to this car with Comfortline and Highline models now getting tinted rear windows while the Highline model also gains rear LED lights.

There are significant changes to the Tiguan range. There is a new entry-level model, a 1.4-litre TSI petrol starting at just €26,495. New to the Tiguan range is the ‘Life and Leisure’ model which features 17” New Orleans alloy wheels, Bluetooth , Park Assist, a Flat Tyre Indicator and tinted rear windows. The well-established ‘Sport and Style’ trimline, which sits between the above the new ‘Life & Leisure’ gains 18” New York alloy wheels, Bluetooth, Park Assist and electrically folding exterior mirrors. Also new is the Tiguan Edition-R which incorporates all of the impressive features of the ‘Sport & Style’ as well as 18” ‘Mallory’ alloy wheels and exclusive R-Line styling for both the exterior and interior.

The Passat BlueMotion gains a leather multi-function steering wheel as standard while the Comfortline gets Park Distance Control. In addition, the Edition-R  gains Park Distance Control, chrome side strips on the windows and electrically folding exterior mirrors. The Passat Highline now gets Park Distance Control and Bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights as standard.

Finally the CC model gains Park Distance Control, Alcantara/Napa leather seats, heated front seats and Bluetooth. The CC Sport gets 18” St.Louis alloy wheels (previously 17”), Napa leather trim, RCD510 touch-screen audio system, tinted windows and electrically folding exterior mirrors.

All of these new cars will be available from July 1st with a very special finance rate of 1.32% APR.
