Chinese car brands Geely and Changan launch in Northern Ireland

Two new Chinese car brands have this week landed on Irish shores through the Charles Hurst Group.

The dealer group has partnered with Geely and Changan to launch both brands in Northern Ireland at its Boucher Road showroom in Belfast.

The first models to arrive from Changan are the fully-electric Deepal S07 and S05 compact SUVs.

Geely’s first models to launch in Northern Ireland are the electric Geely EX5 and hybrid Starray EM-i.

Geely Auto Group, which owns Volvo and Lotus, is currently ranked as the world’s seventh biggest automotive maker.

While the company only entered the UK market in 2025, the automaker currently has no plans to appoint dealers in the Republic of Ireland.

Chinese state-owned Changan boasts R&D centres across Asia and Europe, including Turin, Munich and Birmingham. Similarly to Geely, Changan’s current focus is on the UK market.

Jeff McCartney, group operations director at Charles Hurst, said: “We’re excited to be the first major retailer in Northern Ireland to debut not one but two of the world’s newest and most innovative EV and low-emission brands.

“This underlines our commitment to bringing real choice and value to customers who want to make the switch to a more sustainable and affordable drive.

“We can’t wait for customers to see and experience the new Changan Deepal S07 and Geely SUVs which combine striking design and premium technology without the premium price tag – and we look forward to expanding the range available over the months and years ahead.”

The Changan Deepal S07 is priced at £39,990, with a slightly lower starting price point of £37,925 for the new Deepal S05. The new Geely EX5 starts from £31,999, while the Starray EM-i starts at £29,990.

Charles Hurst’s partnership with Changan and Geely includes sales, servicing and aftersales support for both brands.
