Mazda Ireland has announced details of the forthcoming all-new Mazda6, which is due in dealer showrooms in mid-January 2013.
Priced from €27,995, Mazda’s flagship model will be available in Saloon or Tourer body styles. More premium feeling, better equipped, more efficient and even better to drive, Mazda is expecting a brand renaissance, with the new 6 not only retaining current customers but attracting a new profile of customer to the brand.
With a completely new exterior design, the new Mazda6 is the latest evolution of “KODO – Soul of Motion”, a design theme inspired by the movements of animals in the wild. Featuring the signature wing grille combined with the new family face of Mazda, the striking exterior gives the Mazda6 a sporty and muscular stance, complimented by four new body colours – Soul Red Metallic – Blue Reflex Mica – Meteor Grey Mica and Jet Black Mica.
The interior is specifically designed with a driver orientated cockpit. The soft touch surfaces, premium quality finishes and satin-chrome detailing create the expectation of something special. Passengers will appreciate the relaxing atmosphere in the cabin, which features segment-leading space.
Beneath the exterior, the new 6 is underpinned by Mazda’s SkyActiv Technology. SkyActiv Technology is about excellent fuel economy, low emissions and driving fun. This new model is also the first Mazda equipped with the unique fuel-saving i-ELOOP brake energy regeneration system.
The SkyActiv Diesel engine will underpin the success of the car in Ireland. I-Eloop is combined with Mazda’s i-Stop technology, Mazda’s innovative, intelligent idle-stop system to maximise efficiency.
The 2.2-litre Diesel with the 6-speed manual gearbox is expected to be the big seller. The saloon model delivers an impressive 108g/km CO₂ with fuel economy of 4.2 l/100km (67mpg), while performance is not sacrificed thanks to 150ps of power and 380Nm of torque.
Customers can now also select a 6-speed diesel automatic, with CO₂ emissions from 127g/km.
Chassis and body structures are stiffer, benefiting from greater proportions of high and ultra-high tensile steels. The steering and suspension combine low-speed agility with high-speed stability and responsiveness to driver input – at a level of precision unparalleled in the CD-segment.
In addition to being quieter and more aerodynamic, the new Mazda6 will also be a segment leader in terms of safety, with standard features on the diesel models including Smart City Brake Support, Hill Hold Assist, and Dynamic Stability Control.
The Sport Model in both the Saloon and Tourer Models is expected to be the core seller in Ireland with very generous levels of standard equipment including: 17” Alloy wheels, 5.8” touch screen multimedia audio system, climate control, cruise control and Bluetooth®, front and rear parking sensors and Smart City Brake Support.
Prices start from €27,995*, with the Diesel Sport Saloon model available from €30,995.
