There is speculation that a long-wheelbase X1 by year’s end could set the scene for a seven-seat version of their smallest crossover
But it is a year of the plug-ins for BMW: PHEV versions of the 2-series Active Tourer and 3-series PHEVs arrive in March and a 7-series by the summer.
Their powerhouse M2 (365bhp) is due in April. And expect an X2 – a Coupe-like crossover (it shares the new X1’s underpinnings) later in year.
The M4 GTS version of M4 is a spring arrival.
The next X3 has already been spotted testing – it’s due next year.
We’ll get a facelifted 3-series GT by the summer (styling and improved fuel economy are among the revised menu).
And we can expect the next 5-series late this year. It will have plug-in hybrid powertrains and there will be Touring and GT derivatives.
A new Z5 is planned for late 2016 – it is being co-developed with Toyota.
The next 3-series is a 2018 arrival.
