Nissan has fully unveiled the third-generation of its Leaf electric vehicle, a model that has sold close to 700,000 units worldwide since its launch in 2010. Seen as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle, the new Nissan Leaf will be built in Sunderland and will go on sale in Europe in early 2026.

The new Leaf gets a noticeably updated silhouette, with flush door handles, a flowing roofline, full under floor cover, and sculpted surfaces said to create a modern profile, while its signature front and rear lighting delivers a distinct, high-tech identity on the road.
A power tailgate opens to reveal 437-litres of cargo space, while selected variants also include roof rails, enabling the installation of accessory crossbars. Seven exterior colour options will be offered, including a unique ‘Luminous Teal’ turquoise (pictured) while the interior trim comes in black or white with purple accents.

Across all grades, wheel designs are optimised for aerodynamic performance. Options include 18-inch alloy wheels with 195 tyres on entry grade, 18-inch alloys with wider 215 tyres on mid-grade, and 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/45R19 tyres on the top-grade.
Built on the CMF-EV modular platform shared with the Ariya, the new Leaf will be available with two powertrain options: a standard 52kWh battery with up to 436km (WLTP) and an extended 75kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 604km (WLTP). With a DC fast-charging capability of up to 150kW, Nissan says the new Leaf can recover up to 417km in just 30 minutes, adding that intelligent battery thermal management ensures fast, consistent charging in a range of temperatures.

Equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, the new Leaf enables external device charging directly from the car, powering a variety of small to medium sized devices with up to 3.6kW of power. Looking ahead, the new Leaf is also Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) compatible, meaning in the future it will be able to send stored energy back to the power grid.
The cockpit of the new Nissan Leaf features twin 14.3-inch screens with Google built-in offering access to maps, assistant, and Play Store. Drivers can control navigation, climate and media hands-free, or sync personal apps and services. Standard safety includes Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Monitor System.
Irish pricing for the new Nissan Leaf should be confirmed in spring 2026.
