132 plate will have better trade in value – SIMI says

Motorists have been advised that cars with a 132 plate, will have a better trade in value, than their 131 plate equivalents. The advice comes from Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) chief Alan Nolan.

Nolan says that cars registered between July 1 and December 31, will fair better in the second-hand market than those registered in the first half of the year.

“If you go into a dealership in three years’ time and there is a 131 and a 132 on sale, all things being equal on equipment and all that, which one would you buy?” Nolan told the Irish Independent

“There is no doubt it will be the 132. Would you give an extra €100 for it if it had less mileage? €200? That’s what I am saying, There will be a price difference.”

He stressed again: “There is no doubt there will be a difference in price in favour of the 132 registrations.” And for all future ‘2’ registrations, he said.
