The Stellantis umbrella group of car brands currently comprises around 100 individual vehicle models, from the likes of Peugeot, Opel, Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati and even Dodge and RAM in the US. Sharing powertrains and various interior components means it can be hard for the respective brands and their models to really stand out. Even more so when exterior looks are too conservative.
Citroen, another of the Stellantis stable, has managed to leave a lasting impression – both inside and out – with its new C5 Aircross. Now in its second generation, the new model visually fulfills much of the promises of its concept version from 2024, which is normally a good thing when trying to turn heads.
An indelible mark of the new C5 Aircross is undoubtably its seats. Standard in all versions, Citroen’s own ‘Advanced Comfort’ seats are stuffed with high-quality foam for a business class-like experience. They’re worth a trip to your nearest Citroen dealer alone.

The new C5 Aircross sits on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform and is available with fully-electric, petrol plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid powertrains. Tested here was the e-C5 EV in the range topping MAX trim. This has a 97 kWh battery paired with a 230 bhp motor, offering a claimed range of up to 680km.
As with every EV I have tested that is sat on the STLA platform, range does come up far shorter than expected. An achilles heel for all of these brands. Still though, I did manage to squeeze over 450km out of the e-C5 Aircross, which is probably more than enough for most people. Just don’t expect to get close to that in colder weather!
The model is fitted as standard with an 11 kW three-phase charger, with the option of a 22 kW three-phase bi-directional charger for faster charging.
Citroen has done a very good job on the C5 Aircross’ exterior styling. It turned a number of heads. The rear three-point light signature, black wheels and wider tracks with pronounced shoulders make for a attractive package. On the electric version, the front section is completely enclosed to optimise aerodynamic drag.

Thanks to its generous wheelbase of 2.78m, the new C5 Aircross offers increased knee and head room for rear passengers compared to the previous model. The backrests can be reclined between 21- and 33-degrees, adding to the comfort. All versions of the new C5 Aircross have a 651-litre boot.
Inside sees the introduction of a vertical touchscreen which floats in front of the dashboard, cascading down seamlessly with the centre console. Paired with the seats, it really is a standout interior.
The new comfort king of the SUV segment, the latest Citroen C5 Aircross is priced from €39,300 and comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty. When you consider the crowded competition, that really is good value.
