Ford was the top-selling brand for both cars and commercial vehicles (CVs) during the final month of 2015, according to figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
With a combined sales tally of 142 cars and CVs during the month (22.7 per cent of the total market) Ford took the top spot ahead of Toyota with 135 cars and CV sales (21.6 per cent).
Ciarán McMahon, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland, commented: “December is usually the quietest sales month of the year, and, indeed, the total car and CV sales were only at 630 units for the month. However, it is heartening for Ford to finish the year on a high. Now all eyes turn toward the January market and the launch of the 161 registration plate. As the January market kicks off in earnest today, Ford Dealers across the country are reporting a brisk level of business and indications are that the increased level of sales witnessed throughout 2015 is certain to continue into January.”
