Toyota Ireland voluntary recall of some Avensis and Prius models

Toyota Ireland is to conduct a voluntary recall on 32,650 Avensis and 1,859 Prius vehicles manufactured between August 2002 and September 2008.
The company stresses that this is purely a precautionary measure. The issue involves a potential problem of wear in splines on the intermediate steering shaft over a prolonged period of time. The repair time will take one hour and it is carried out at no cost to the customer.

A voluntary recall will also be conducted on 749 Prius models manufactured between September 2003 and March 2009 to carry out an inspection of a coil wire within the Hybrid water pump which circulates coolant through the hybrid system. The repair will take one and a half hours, and it is carried out at no cost to the customer.

Toyota Ireland tells us that it will be writing directly to owners requesting them to bring their car to their Toyota dealer for inspection.
