Volvo Car Ireland and its principal dealer in Cork, Johnson and Perrott Motor Group is sponsoring Volvo Cork Week 2014, July 5-11, at one of the world’s oldest yacht clubs, the Royal Cork Yacht Club based in Crosshaven, Co. Cork.
The Volvo brand is synonymous with sailing around the world from the Volvo Ocean Race which had a port stopover in Galway in 2009 and finished in Galway in 2012, to the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta which Volvo Car Ireland has sponsored since 2007. However, this is the first year that Volvo Car Ireland has been involved in Ireland’s longest running international regatta week, Cork Week.
Cork Week is recognised as one of the premier regattas in Europe. Many of the participating boats have travelled from around Ireland and further afield to participate. Adrian Yeates, Managing Director Volvo Car Ireland Ltd said at the launch:
“Cork Week has enjoyed a long and illustrious history, both on the Irish and international sailing calendar. Volvo Car Ireland, in conjunction with Johnson and Perrott Motor Group, is proud and delighted to add its name to this prestigious event. Volvo has invested heavily in the sailing arena over the years and Ireland benefitted greatly from the visit of the Volvo Ocean Race to Galway for the last two round the world races. Volvo Cork Week will be one of the biggest sailing events to take place in Ireland in 2014 and next year will be the turn of the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta which we have sponsored since 2007. We are looking forward to an exciting programme in Crosshaven in July and welcoming sailors and visitors alike”.
A range of Volvo Ocean Race editions will be on display for the duration of the event. The Volvo Ocean Race edition is a testament to Volvo’s investment and long term commitment to sailing and is available on the Volvo V40 Cross Country, Volvo V60 and the Volvo XC60 models.
